  2023-12-21

While HTPCs are not immune cells, they produce IL-6, MCP-1 and other immunologically relevant factors (Mayer et al., 2016). Our results demonstrated that epinephrine and phenylephrine increased the mRNA expression levels of COX-2, IL-6 and MCP-1 in HTPCs without affecting the mRNA expression level o

  2023-12-21

Medium spiny neurons (MSNs) in the striatum start from a deeply hyperpolarized resting membrane potential, slowly depolarize and show a delayed start of firing during a current injection (Kawaguchi, 1993, Nisenbaum and Wilson, 1995, Planert et al., 2013). The firing pattern during the current inject

  2023-12-21

Voluminous literature about the neuroendocrine mechanism of reproduction and energy regulation has emerged from studies involving mammalian species. The avian infundibular nucleus (equivalent structure to the mammalian arcuate nucleus) consists of two neuronal populations, one of which expresses neu

  2023-12-21

However, although in vitro studies in heterologous systems have provided very important indications of potential novel pharmacology, the studies with endogenous receptors in native tissues are essential to provide evidence for GPCR heteromerization in vivo and to confirm its physiological relevance.

Breast cancer The interactions between 15-LOX and COX enzymes also affect the outcome of breast cancer. Indomethacin, a COX-1 and COX-2 inhibitor, decreased the growth of human breast cancer (BC) cells in nude mice, as well as slowed the rate of lung metastasis formation [41]. The levels of 12-HE

  2023-12-20

Somatostatin analogs also bind to somatostatin receptors. It has been reported that octreotide has a high affinity for hSSTR2, moderate affinity for hSSTR3 and hSSTR5, and does not bind to hSSTR1 or hSSTR4 (Ben-Shlomo and Melmed 2008). Compared to octreotide, pasireotide displays 40-, 30-, and 5-fol

As a neuropeptide, Apelin also has a critical role in cardiovascular diseases. Systemic administration of Apelin exert vasodilatory and antihypertensive effects [33]. Meanwhile, the apelin-APJ signal transduction pathway is related to age-associated cardiovascular diseases [34]. It has been known th

Finally, we argue that the estimated penetrance of 0.45% (95% CI 0.02%, 9.35%) calculated by leveraging the gnomAD (Lek et al., 2016) population data indicate that T201S is at most a low-risk gene variant for CJD. If we arbitrarily consider a central estimate of 10% or higher as the clinically signi

In a recent issue of , Minokoshi and colleagues have added more light to our understanding of the role of hypothalamic AMPK in the regulation of energy balance. Previous seminal work from the same group suggested that AMPK in the PVH might be involved in the modulation of feeding . Here, they show t

Although it is not known if CP-AMPAR regulation is required for LTD, our previous characterization of AKAP150ΔPIX knockin mice that are selectively deficient in CaN anchoring, due to disruption of a PxIxIT-type CaN docking motif, provided important insights. We found that AKAP-CaN signaling dephosph

Rapid nongenomic effects of corticosterone in an amphibian model Studies in the model organism, the roughskin newt, Taricha granulosa, over 30 years ago led to the discovery that stress can rapidly (within minutes) suppress sexual behavior (amplectic clasping) of male T. granulosa, an effect that
