Funding Introduction l-3,4-Dihydroxyphenylalanine (l-DOPA) is the gold-standard treatment for the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD); however, its chronic use induces severe motor complications that eventually limit its long-term efficacy (Bastide et al., 2015). The most disabling side

  2024-03-26

The H373N mutation in exon 6 has not previously been reported [3], [4], [5], [6]; thus, this mutation appears to be a novel mutation. The functional expression study demonstrated that the H373N mutation results in almost complete loss of enzymatic activity. Thus, it is highly likely that the H373N m

Congruously, our findings of voltage-electrode-clamping assays indicate that hipN851K mutation mediates partial loss of Na+/K+-ATPase pump currents, also confirming our thesis that hipN851K mutation acts as a hypomorph. As demonstrated here by our external electrical stimulation studies and ECG reco

Apelin Discovered in 1998, apelin was initially identified as the sole endogenous ligand for the APJ receptor (Tatemoto et al., 1998). Apelin-77 (pre-pro-apelin) is the precursor for various pharmacologically active apelin isoforms (e.g. apelin-12, -13, -17 and 36), and it shares 75–95% sequence

  2024-03-25

The AT-hook motif is highly conserved in evolution from bacteria to humans and is found in one or more copies in a large number of other, non-HMGA, proteins, many of which are transcription factors or are involved in chromatin remodeling [8]. For example, AT-hook peptide motifs are essential compone

A strain previously reported as demonstrating strong antifungal activity and suitability for food applications is Lactobacillus reuteri R29 (Axel et al., 2016, Oliveira et al., 2015). Oliveira et al. (2015) demonstrated that the cell-free supernatant (cfs) of medium fermented for 48 h with this stra

  2024-03-25

In conclusion, we demonstrated that, in the skeletal muscle of rats with T1DM, CRBN levels increased and AMPK, Akt, GLUT4, PGC-1α, and FNDC5 levels decreased, resulting in increased fasting glucose levels. Aerobic exercise training decreased levels of CRBN, which was possibly mediated by AMPK, Akt,

  2024-03-25

Pregnane X receptor (PXR) is a nuclear receptor that plays an important role in regulation of metabolism and disposition of structurally diverse xenobiotics as well as endogenous steroids and bile acids (Bertilsson et al., 1998, Kliewer et al., 1998, Lehmann et al., 1998). PXR regulates the metaboli

  2024-03-25

The Cebu Longitudinal Health and Nutrition Survey (CLHNS) genome-wide association study investigated the genetic loci associated with plasma adiponectin in 1776 unrelated Filipino women. Adiponectin was strongly associated with three genetic positions: the gene CDH13 (rs3865188, P ≤ 7.2 × 10−16), ne

  2024-03-25

AdipoRon acts on the anti-diabetic effects of adiponectin, exhibiting its effect through the activation of AMPK and PPARα pathways via AdipoR1 and AdipoR2, respectively [23]. AdipoR activation is a promising treatment for diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and cardiovascular disease, demons

Similar to V1, the temporal neocortex of mammals, including the primary auditory cortex (A1), is densely innervated by 5-HT fibers originating mainly in the dorsal raphe nucleus (Campbell et al., 1987, Harding and Paxinos, 2004, Törk, 1990), and the major DMAT of 5-HTRs are expressed throughout the
